David Morgan: Unauthorized Biography of "The Silver Guru"

At this time David Morgan, AKA the Silver Guru, is my top silver analyst. One time I heard Eric Sprott of Sprott Asset Management say that he considers Mr. Morgan to be one of the top three silver analysts (the other two are Ted Butler and Jason Hommell).

Common knowledge around the web is that Mr. Morgan is a precious metals analyst that has appeared on mainstream media news outlets like CNBC and Fox Business. He has been interviewed by The Wall Street Journal, Futures Magazine and other publications. According to many, he consults for hedge funds, high net worth individuals, depositories, and bullion dealers.

Major accomplishments:

  • Publisher of The Morgan Report

  • Author of Get the Skinny on Silver Investing

  • Author of The Silver Manifesto

  • Featured speaker at investment conferences in North America, Europe and Asia

  • Editor and publisher of Silver-investor.com

  • Degrees in finance and economics as well as engineering

  • Precious metals consultant for hedge funds and high net worth individuals

Publisher of 'The Morgan Report'

The Morgan Report - Money, Metals and Mining includes basically these three things:

  1. A multi-tiered set of recommendations for precious metals stocks.
  2. Quite a few precious metals and investment related reports.
  3. Monthly newsworthy articles with insight into precious metals, economies and investment.

I used to be a subscriber of The Morgan Report. It was a good source of information on precious metals stocks at the time (2010-2011). But as precious metals prices started declining, I stopped subscribing. I felt that it didn't matter how good The Silver Guru's advice was. Precious metals and their stocks were going to go down. However, at some point I believe gold and silver will make a comeback. I hope I am smart enough to know when that is so that I can start subscribing again. Might not even be a bad idea to start subscribing now if you are heavy into precious metals stocks. The cost is less than $300 per year at this time. Sometimes you can get a 30-day free trial.

Editor of Silver-investor.com

The idea of this site has evolved over the years. Silver-investor.com was more focused on silver in the beginning as you can tell from the domain name Silver-investor.com. A quote from the site in 2001: "Published and edited by David Morgan, a private e-mail newsletter providing financial, economic, political commentary focusing on the precious metals, with emphasis on silver."

Currently the mission statement of Silver-investor.com:
"To teach and empower people to understand the benefits of an honest monetary system"

Silver-investor.com is the public gateway to The Morgan Report. It offers a wealth of free information. There is a blog, links to Mr. Morgan's interviews and articles. If you feel the information being presented is of interest, you are encouraged to subscribe to The Morgan Report.

Author of 'Get the Skinny on Silver Investing'

Published in 2009. Mr. Morgan's first book. Informative but not impressive. When I read it I felt it was not up to his standards.

However, there is enough good information in Get the Skinny on Silver Investing that I can recommend reading it. For eight bucks on Amazon you really can't go wrong - especially for someone just getting interested in silver investing. By far the best part of this book is the 10 Rules of Silver Investing - which are still valid even today.

If you are already involved with silver investing and silver related investments you may want to read The Silver Manifesto, his latest book.

Author of 'The Silver Manifesto'

Published in 2015. Written by David Morgan and Chris Marchese. Mr. Morgan's latest book. Impressive coverage of silver supply and demand, external factors affecting silver's price and recommendations for silver in your financial portfolio.

CHAPTERS

  1. Introduction
  2. A Monetary History of Silver in America
  3. Silver Supply Dynamics
  4. Silver Demand Dynamics
  5. Money and Banking
  6. Intervention Induced Price Suppression in Gold and Silver
  7. Austrian Business Cycle Theory
  8. Monetary Malfeasance
  9. The Debt Bomb
  10. Building a Precious Metals Portfolio
  11. Mining Stock Appraisal

Summary

At this time David Morgan is my top silver analyst. He has been a silver aficionado for over 20 years. If you are a "silver bug" you should stay connected with Mr. Morgan. I'll end this article with two recommendations:

  1. Read The Silver Manifesto. Read this book to get educated about silver and silver related topics.
  2. Subscribe to Silver Investing. I remember back in 2011 when silver was peaking... In this free email newsletter Mr. Morgan mentioned, if I remember correctly, that the CME margin hikes are a problem and "I am going to sit this one out." Within a few days silver fell 10%-15%.
